Our Little Christmas Lime!

Posted by Chrystal

11 Weeks today!

Your baby continues to grow and is now approximately the size of a large lime! The crown-to-rump length of your developing child is 1.75 to 2.4 inches. The weight of the fetus is approximately 8 grams at this point. The growth of your baby is phenomenal now and your baby's length will double in the next three weeks.

So I had to go to the store to see how big a lime really is. And of course I had to buy it! I couldn't hold it thinking about our baby and then just leave it there among the other ordinary limes -- I mean this one was our baby!

I go back to the doctor next Thursday. Say some prayers that our little lime is being a good little boy or girl.

Merry Christmas to all!

9 Weeks, A Wal-Mart Belly Ache, and Baltimore...

Posted by Chrystal

Week 9 is about to come to an end. What another fun filled week it has been!

It started with a Wal-Mart Belly Ache on Friday afternoon. After talking to a pregnant coworker, I started taking my vitamins with dinner and the nausea pills right before bedtime (7:30! LOL) on Thursday night. I woke up Friday morning feeling like a million bucks! Then it hits... the Wal-Mart Belly Ache... I haven't had one of those these things in years. Why "Wall-Mart" you ask? Well, these type of stomach aches are the ones that show up when you least expect it, or in the worst possible places. Work, School, WAL-MART. My Mom, My Aunt and Sister all get the same thing. It's just want we do. The first one I ever got was at the Nine West Outlet store in the Ozarks. It was a good time had by all. Oh, the joys of a pregnant person's digestive tract! It's just so much fun!

This weekend I attended a baby shower. I can't wait to register for all that cute stuff!!

Monday and Tuesday I had to travel to Baltimore for work. I was so worried about the plane rides. I prayed over and over again that I wouldn't get sick. I didn't throw up until I got home on Tuesday night! Victory! The vendor took us to a sea food restaurant on Monday night and served lunch meat on Tuesday. Oh, the joys of a pregnant person's "do not eat" list!

My new favorite food...

Yes, those are sour gummy worms. I can't get enough!

Week 10 starts tomorrow! Stay tuned! (Only 10 more weeks until we find out the sex!)

The First Picture!

Posted by Chrystal

The doctor's appointment went really well! The baby is measuring at exactly the right amount - 8 weeks today! As you can see, we were able to take home its first picture. I've labeled the things as I see them. Who knows if I'm right. I just think it's the most beautiful thing. Looks like it might share Daddy's bald head. It's hard to imagine that it's inside of me... Amazing.

We go back to the doctor on 12/27 for an "informational" appointment. We'll be learning all about registering at the hospital, prenatal testing, and other stuff I can't remember. We should be able to find out the sex around 2/22.

On Wednesday I was worried because I woke up feeling great. I researched all day about disappearing morning sickness. All I really needed to do was wait 24 hours for it to rear its ugly head. I threw up once before we left for the doctor and felt like total poop before we ate dinner last night. The doctor gave me medicine that is supposed to help with the nausea. I took one of the pills this morning and about 20 minutes later I was shooting pop tarts out of my nose. I think it might be working! ;) The best, or only sort of good, thing is that I feel great after I get sick. It's just getting sick that sucks.

Jay thinks my doctor is hot. I pray that she is on call when we deliver. I'd hate for him to have an unpleasant experience. All he could talk about on the way home was her dress, tights and hooker boots. He has decided that she has kids. He says that she "carries herself" like she's had a baby before. I have no idea what that means.

He still thinks it's a girl. I think it might be a 12 pack -- only because I feel like I have a constant hang over.

Just one of the cool thing about being pregnant...

Wednesday evening Jay checked out our blog for the first time. When he was finished he said, "what's the rhythm method?" I answered, "don't worry about it, it doesn't work."

Check back often!

So... A little Surprise...

Posted by Chrystal

Holy Smokes! Never in a million years were we expecting this! We were just as surprised as you might be right now. Now that the shock has worn off... we are so excited! We've realized that God has a plan for everything, so this must be his plan for us!

I've decided the term "morning sickness" is a cruel joke. I wonder where the idea to include just "morning" came from... It really hasn't been THAT bad, but it definitely isn't fun. I found that going to the grocery store every morning is my best option. This morning I bought apples, watermelon, Ramon noddles and water. Yummy! Pop-Tarts have also become my best friend. They seem to be the only thing I can repetitively eat.

I will be 8 weeks on Friday. Tomorrow is our first "real" doctor's appointment. We've had a few so far - blood work, bladder infection, ultrasound, etc - but this is the first time I'll actually be seeing the doctor. We had the first ultrasound on the 16th. We were able to see the heart flutter a few times.

Jay has been great. He did FIVE loads of laundry yesterday! God love him!

Oh, I'm asking Santa for this...

(Ha ha! I couldn't resist!)

New Roof

The roofing project is complete! We are really happy with the way it turned out. You can't even tell a difference between the old and new shingles. Here are some pictures from the day...

Some of the best help beer can buy!

The Mess...

Yes, it does take Miller Lite, Bud Light and Stag to complete a roof. At the beginning of the night they said they would "rather walk to town then drink Bud Light." As you can see... they changed their minds! ;)

I was going to upload pictures from the kitchen, but my internet keeps going out. Gotta love HTC!

FINALLY closed on the house!

Posted by Chrystal

So this is my second post. Remember in the last one I mentioned that we were closing on the house "tomorrow night." Well... we finally really did close last night! It's a huge relief. The buyers actually had to rent from us for 90 days. We were really nervous that the plans would fall through after they lived there for awhile. Especially when we heard that the neighbors aren't particularly found of them. Apparently they have an entire pack of loud dogs. Oh well! We couldn't be picky when it came to the buyer -- we HAD to sell!

Our house project is really coming along. The heating and cooling guy has been working all week to install the duct work. Tomorrow we put a new roof on the garage. After that we move on to hanging drywall and installing bathroom fixtures. I guess we have to buy those things first!

My plan is to post some pictures of our remodeling efforts this weekend.

I went to preview our wedding albums the other night. I think they look so great! It's amazing how fast the past 7 months have gone. We'll be married a year before you know it.

It's craft fair time again! We had our first fair last Saturday. 90 degrees in October...who would have thought! Our next one is in Mascoutah, IL next weekend. Here's a picture of Britt's booth from the Shooting Complex this past Monday.

Happy Friday!

Life since 3/3/07

Posted by Chrystal

Life has definitely been busy since we were married on March 3rd. We decided to renovate part of our house, which has been a HUGE project. The kitchen is complete to the naked eye. We still have to put up a few pieces of trim and finish the pantry. The pantry can't be completed until the new closet is finished. We are currently in the process of building the wall for the new bathroom and laundry room now. Our next big project will be putting a new roof on the garage. There is no way we could have done all of this w/o our parents help. It's amazing what they have done for us!

Another exciting thing is that we've finally sold Jay's house! We are so excited! It will be such a relief to not have that hanging over our heads. We close tomorrow night. Can't wait to get that hot little check in our hands!

The Kiefers have a Blog!

I've decided to start a blog. I guess I'll use this blog to share stories about our new life together, as well as anything else that comes up along the way. Thanks for stopping by!
