15 Weeks

Your baby has grown to the size of an apple and weighs about 2 1/2 ounces. (Length: 4 inches, head to bottom.)

He's busy inhaling and exhaling amniotic fluid, which will help the air sacs in his lungs develop. Sweat glands are appearing, and although his eyelids are fused shut, he can sense light. If you were to shine a flashlight at your tummy, he'd most likely move away from the beam.

Our next doctor's appointment is next Thursday at 15 weeks and 6 days. I'll let you know how it goes!

Happy New Year, Happy New Trimester!

I'm getting mixed reports on when the second trimester actually starts. Some books say at 13 weeks, some say 13 weeks and 4 days, and others say that it's not until you get to 14 weeks. My Aunts gave me the cutest little calendar for Christmas that says "Welcome to your second trimester!" on the first day of week 13. I'm going with that! :)

Our second doctor's appointment at 12 weeks went well. I was so surprised at how little they do. Cup. Scale. Doppler. That's it! Hearing the heart beat was really neat. The nurse asked me, "how does that sound?" I'm thinking, omg, was I supposed to be counting?!?!?! Then she said, "It sounds wonderful, doesn't it?" Yes. Wonderful!

Most of the weight you have gained cannot be blamed on me directly - I only weigh about an ounce (28 g) - as much as a slice of cheese! Uhm, whatever....I was thinking it had nothing to do with the Cool Ranch Doritos I'm eating for breakfast...

Our little one was SPOILED on Christmas! I couldn't believe all the cute little stuff it got. Here's just a sample...The little cow outfit and booties even have tails! A friend of mine is having a really hard time finding a daycare for her little girl. When they find one they like it's either a year waiting list or $350/week. I called the newest one in Red Bud yesterday. It's $148 a week or $35 a day. They supply cereal and baby food. We'd have to bring formula and diapers. I know a lot of people don't like the daycare environment, but I really think it's the best option for us. I'm going to call the daycare that is a part of our Church next week. The benefit of sending it there is that it would be an easy transition from daycare to pre-school.

Our next appointment is at 16 weeks on 1/24. The appointment after that will be our 20 week ultrasound!! Any guesses on what it's going to be??
