I can not believe I'm already 36 weeks! The time is flying by. Here's a few pictures of the belly this week. (Maybe I should have ironed my shirt today...nah!)
Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds and is almost 18 inches long. His fat layers — which will help regulate his body temperature once he's born — are filling him out, making him rounder. His skin is also smoother than ever. His central nervous system is maturing and his lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you've been nervous about preterm labor you'll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies.
I've noticed that moving around in bed has become more like a workout. My weekly update gave this advice: Slide your way to slumber "In the third trimester, turning over in bed is a nightmare. The solution? Big satin pajamas and even satin sheets — the slipperiness of satin helps tremendously!" — Carrie
I'm thinking about just buying these...

33 Week Belly Shots...
Wow! He's really growing! My 33 week check up went really well. Everything seems to be right on track. I go back at 36 weeks on 6/13. At that point they start doing exams to see if he's "coming towards the light." (The doctor's words, not mine!) After that visit I'll be going every week until he decided to make his arrival.
This week your baby weighs a little over 4 pounds and has passed the 17-inch mark. He's rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look and his skeleton is hardening. The bones in his skull aren't fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for him to fit through the birth canal.
Today is the first time since I've been married that I didn't wear my wedding ring to work. I have it with me and I keep trying to put it on every few minutes. No luck so far...
We had Lamaze classes last Sunday. I think we both really enjoyed it. It was a long day (8-4), but I think it was much easier then going to STL every week for 6 weeks. We both learned a lot and I know we both enjoyed looking at all the new little babies in the nursery.
Looking forward to a long weekend!
Here's a close up of the belly at 32 weeks...
By now, your baby weighs 3.75 pounds and is about 16.7 inches long, taking up a lot of space in your uterus. You're gaining about a pound a week and roughly half of that goes right to your baby. In fact, he'll gain a third to half of his birth weight during the next 7 weeks as he fattens up for survival outside the womb. He now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz). His skin is becoming soft and smooth as she plumps up in preparation for birth.
Sunday we have "lamaze" class from 8 - 4. The night before is our second baby shower, so we'll see how well Dad handles the graphic movies! Someone might be a little under the weather!
We had our first shower last Saturday. We still can't get over all the wonderful stuff we got! It was fun to pack it all away. We can't wait to start using it.
We are still undecided on a name. Last night he told me he's leaning towards three choices. We both decided that we have to decide before we go to the hospital. We don't want the extra stress of not having a name added to everything else already going on!
My next appointment is next Thursday at 33 weeks. I still can't believe I'm already this far along.
